Congratulations on your decision to learn more about a live food vegan diet! If you’re like many, you’ve probably heard about some of the amazing benefits that people are experiencing as a result of abandoning animal products and cooking, and eating only raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and sprouts. Because you are smart, you are interested in finding out more . . . . .
What are some of the reported benefits of such a diet? Weight loss, increased energy, better digestion, better sleep, lowered cholesterol, improved skin, clearer mind, happier thoughts, stronger immunity, detoxification, lowered blood pressure and more----including the reversal of some pretty serious diseases, according to many advocates. Dr. Ann Wigmore, the “mother” of the living foods movement, reversed her own gangrene, diabetes and colon cancer with a living foods diet and lifestyle. She went on to reportedly coach others in reversing their own diseases, including AIDS. This is well-documented in her many books on the subject.
A Live Food Vegan Diet consists of the following:
- Seeds
- Sprouts
- Nuts
- Fruits
- Vegetables
Most raw foodists usually abandon their stoves and rely on the following kitchen equipment:
- A Dehydrator
- A Juicer
- A Blender
- A Food Processor
If you think this type of diet sounds boring, limited and unfulfilling, clearly you have not visited my gallery yet to see all the wonderful and superior pizzas, desserts and other dishes that can be made with these foods!
A healing live food diet is always devoid of animal products, or vegan. More information on the dangers of animal products can be found in the why vegan section of this site.
The MAIN difference between raw food and cooked food is ENZYMES. Dr. Edward Howell was a researcher as well, and was the first doctor to document the crucial role that enzymes play in our health.
According to Dr. Howell:
“Enzymes are substances which make life possible. They are needed for every chemical reaction in that occurs in our body. Without enzymes, no activity at all would take place. Neither vitamins, minerals, or hormones can do any work -- without enzymes.
Think of it this way: Enzymes are the "labor force" that builds your body just like construction workers are the labor force that builds your house. You may have all the necessary building materials and lumber, but to build a house you need workers, which represent the vital life element.
Neither vitamins, minerals or hormones can do any work without enzymes."
This would explain why raw food contains so many more benefits than cooked food.
For an in-depth interview with Dr. Howell that discusses what enzymes are, what they do in our bodies, why (Howell believes) a state of enzyme deficiency stress exists in most people, and finally, what he believes you can do about it, click here.
Overall, the best way to understand the benefits of a live food diet is to experience them! Enthusiasts report that within just a short number of days they stop craving toxic foods and start craving the energy and well-being experienced on their new and improved diet. So go raw for 1 week. Or, 1 month! But be forewarned: positive and exciting life changes and extreme health may quickly follow!
Why A Healthy Diet Is Always A Vegan Diet
The China Study has been observed as the greatest , longest study on health of all time. It directly (and correctly) concludes that there is a causative relationship between eating animals and disease. This conclusion of course merely only echoes the discoveries made by countless other doctors and health seekers who have been reversing their health challenges easily and without surgery by simply adhering to a healthier diet----loaded with taste but devoid of animal products.
We used to trim the sh*t off the meat.
Then we washed the sh*t off the meat.
Now the consumer eats the sh*t off the meat.
David Carney, USDA Meat Inspector
Common meats found in the standard diet are hamburger, steak, chicken, pork, ham, hot dogs, bratwurst, sausage, bacon, turkey and fish. These foods are devoid of enzymes and fiber and are almost always rich in pesticides, hormones, worms & parasites, disease, feces, terror, cruelty and more.
If one thousand years from now a different species dominated the earth and discovered the remains of a human being, how would they objectively deduce what our natural diet was? Analyzing various characteristics, we can see that humans were not designed to eat meat based on characteristics like our lack of sharp fangs, our prevalent “grinding” molar teeth, our long, convoluted intestines, the facts that we sip and not lap water and we produce the grain-digesting enzyme ptyalin (carnivores do not), and more.
When we look at our physiology alone, outside of our cultural conditioning and personal preferences, we can see that scientifically we simply do not have the attributes of a carnivore, period. We do not think “Mmmm!” when we see roadkill or have the ability to run down a gazelle and gnash into it with our teeth and claws. All REAL carnivores do. We eat meat because we like it and have been trained to think that we “need” it. And at the expense of our health, our humanity, our hearts, our fellow inhabitants of the earth, our air, our land, and our water.
Humans were not intended to eat meat, contrary to what some popular fad diets----most notably the blood type diet----might sway one to believe. Blood types, Ayurvedic types and more are still always going to be secondary to Natural Law. Since all nutrition is dependent upon digestion and assimilation, we ALL need to eat according to our DIGESTIVE type (not to mention our heart type and breathing type: eating animals is CRUEL, and we eat that cruelty, plus it directly thwarts our oxygen supply. How long can a “Blood Type ‘O’” go without oxygen?)
There usually is a little bit of truth in a lot of different things, which can create great confusion. But while there may truly be some different tendencies among these different types of people, diet can and will never supersede Natural Law, just as man cannot and will never outwit or dominate over Nature.
PROTEIN IS DERIVED FROM ASSIMILATED AMINO ACIDS----no more and no less. The most bioavailable sources are found in fresh, organic leafy greens. Just ask Popeye!
A lot of people are unsure of what is and what is not a dairy food. Dairy products are made from the (breast)milk of another species----namely cows or goats. Common dairy foods are milk, eggs, cheese (cottage, sliced, bar, canned, creamed, etc), butter and yogurt. Dairy has been strongly linked with obesity, asthma, arthritis and osteoporosis, just to name a few.
Once again, we are talking about Natural Laws here. Dairy breaks two of them:
No other species ingests the milk of another species
No other species continues to ingest even their own mother's milk post-weening.
The idea of a forty-year old human suckling a grown cow's udder is preposterous and repulsive to many. As is the notion of an adult cow nursing off of another adult cow, or an adult human pouring human breast milk into their cereal in the morning. If a parent let their child nurse off of a grown cow out back, the neighbors would call DCFS in a heartbeat. And yet the idea of a human drinking a nice glass of store bought cow milk is an image of health and wholeness in our society. This is due to conditioning and propaganda.
Dairy is associated with numerous illnesses, from asthma to ear infections. It is loaded with synthetic hormones, antibiotics, bacteria, pus, blood and is mucous-causing, to name just a few of it's deterrents. Cow milk has a very different chemical make-up than human milk. Dairy cows are often sick and diseased—and then we in turn ingest their illness in the form of an unnatural, sticky substance. Geeze, no wonder why Americans are getting so ill and out of sorts: you are what you drink, too!
Dairy products actually cause osteoporosis rather than prevent it: as an excessive protein it causes one to excrete calcium! Superior sources of protein are in leafy greens (where the cows get it) and sesame seeds. In a nutshell, God made cow milk for baby cows only.
The reason why we "crave" dairy, namely cheese, is because the mother's milk of a species is laced with natural opiates, to trigger the habit of nursing. In his book Breaking The Food Seduction, Dr. Neal Barnard documented the scientific basis for the "addiction" most people feel towards dairy foods, and namely cheese (the most concentrated one) at that. Cheese actually breaks down into casomorphines in the intestines, thus releasing opiates into the body. Not enough to be labelled a drug of course, but significant enough to hook us. Hence the strong addiction so many humans feel for cheese. Once many understand this distorted perversion of nature, their cravings aren't so attractive to them anymore, and ESPECIALLY when they understand the health ramifications of their "addiction" as well. Fortunately, cheese is an easy habit to break!
